World Language Competency Test

World Language Competency Test

Registration is now open online to participate in World Language Competency Testing here in Northshore School District. Registration will close on Wednesday, November 27, 2024. There will not be another opportunity to take the test during the 2024-2025 school year.

This is an opportunity for students who can read, write, listen, and speak a language other than English, to earn up to four high school credits and/or the Seal of Biliteracy designation on their high school transcript. More detailed information about the test and earning credits can be found on the World Language Competency Test website. Here is the pertinent information regarding the upcoming testing opportunity:

  • Date/Time— Wednesday December 11, 2024 at 8:40am. Check-in for the test begins at 8:10am

  • Location—Innovation Lab High School - 3rd floor conference room #321

  • The test is open to grades 9 through 12

  • The process consists of two tests. Every student who registers will take a reading/writing test. Based on their results, those who qualify can move on and take the speaking/listening test. This year, students will be charged $75 for the first test (writing/reading) and an additional $75 for the second test (oral/verbal), paid by families through Touchbase. These fees cover the cost of testing, which is administered by a third-party vendor. Fees will be automatically  waived for students who: 1) Qualify for free or reduced-price meals and who have provided consent to share their status for fee waivers. 2) Demonstrate financial hardship and are working with the school support team.

  • To register, start by paying the $75 registration fee in person at the school or online through TouchBase/InTouch at: https://www.nsd.org/resources/online-tools/payments.

  • Print your receipt or keep a copy open on your computer for the next step!

  • On your receipt for your registration fee will be a link to the Google registration form.  You will need your receipt number to fill out that form.

  • After you have filled out the registration form, you will get a confirmation email that you have successfully submitted the form. That is your receipt that you have registered for testing.

  • After registration, you will receive an email from your school’s in-building testing coordinator about testing logistics.
