Dear Innovation Lab High School Families,
I hope everyone has been enjoying a restful midwinter break! With the heavy snowfall we got at the beginning of the break there were lots of opportunities to get my kids outside for a change and enjoy a little fun time away from their screens. They went to a local park to do some sledding, and I ended up building a 4-foot tall pile of snow out of what I shoveled off of our driveway. We’ve all placed bets as to how long it takes for “Snow Mountain” to completely melt away. Fun times!
I am pleased to announce that Innovation Lab will grow significantly next year. The number of applications to join our 9th grade class exceeded our capacity by a significant amount. With a full cohort of 9th graders coming to the school, that means our student body will more than double in size! Due to a handful of families making the decision to withdraw their applications, we’ve been able to move our waitlist once. We will continue to monitor how things progress and make decisions about further movement of the waitlist as it becomes appropriate.
Innovation Lab is also accepting a limited number of transfer applications for students who will be in 10th or 11th grade next year. If you know someone who might be interested in transferring to ILHS, they should go to the district’s Waiver Information and Transfer Processes page and follow the process there.
When we return from break we will be taking care of a number of important “school business” items:
- For our incoming 9th grade students, we’ll be paying a visit to our feeder middle schools next week to help our students fill out their course request forms. The process is very straightforward and should be completed rather quickly.
- For our 10th and 11th grade students, we will meet with our Expedition project work groups on Tuesday and Thursday of next week to wrap up some of the remaining details regarding the Expedition. We will then use the time in Crew during the following week to fill out our course request forms for next year.
That’s all the information I have for you this week. Please enjoy the rest of the break, and stay healthy, stay safe!
